The Great Extra Virgin Olive Oil promotion program of European Union’s olive oils in third countries, participated in the 42nd International Exhibition Winter Fancy Food Show 2017, held in San Francisco at Moscone Center, January 22-24/1/2017, with a variety of extra olive oils, organic, P.D.O. - P.G.I. from the main oil producing region of Greece. This participation was carried out under the Information and Promotion Program for the promotion of European olive oil with the distinctive title "Great Extra Virgin Olive Oil – G.E.V.O.O.”, which is co-financed by Greece and the European Union.
More than 1,400 exhibitors filled the halls of Moscone Center in San Francisco with the latest in specialty food and beverages from across the U.S. and other countries and more than 33,000 specialty food professionals filled the 215.000 m2 of exhibit halls to see more than 80,000 products.
A large number of people who visited the exhibition had the opportunity to receive information regarding the European olive oil and its quality categories, the types of olive oil, especially the Greek P.D.O. and P.G.I. olive oils, the benefits that PDO – PGI olive oils guarantee, the packaging of olive oil, the use and the cooperation opportunities with Greek companies. Visitors of the Greek pavilion had the opportunity to taste raw extra virgin olive oil and P.D.O. – P.G.I. extra virgin olive oil from famous regions of Greece such as P.D.O. Kalamata (Peloponissos), P.G.I. Lakonia (Peloponissos), P.D.O. Sitia (Crete) etc.
