The Great Extra Virgin Olive Oil promotion program of European Union’s olive oils in third countries, participated in the 62nd International Exhibition Summer Fancy Food Show 2016, held in New York City, USA at Javits Center, June 26-28/6/2016, with a variety of extra olive oils, organic, P.D.O. - P.G.I. from the main oil producing region of Greece. This participation was carried out under the Information and Promotion Program for the promotion of European olive oil with the distinctive title "Great Extra Virgin Olive Oil – G.E.V.O.O.”, which is co-financed by Greece and the European Union.
The Summer Fancy Food Show is America’s largest specialty food and beverage Show, drawing 46,000+ industry professionals, and the premier showcase for industry innovation. It is organized by the Specialty Food Association, which is a thriving community of food artisans, importers and entrepreneurs. The Summer Fancy Food Show 2016 was the largest in exhibit space ever since the show’s 1954 inception. More than 2,670 exhibitors filled the halls of Javits Center in New York with the latest in specialty food and beverages from across the U.S. and 55 countries and morere than 47,000 specialty food professionals filled the exhibit halls to see them.
A large number of people who visited the exhibition had the opportunity to receive information regarding the European olive oil and its quality categories, the types of olive oil, especially the Greek P.D.O. and P.G.I. olive oils, the benefits that PDO – PGI olive oils guarantee, the packaging of olive oil, the use and the cooperation opportunities with Greek companies. Visitors of the Greek pavilion had the opportunity to taste raw extra virgin olive oil and P.D.O. extra virgin olive oil from famous regions of Greece such as Kalamata (Peloponissos), Krokees Lakonias (Peloponissos) etc.
